PUPPY SCHOOL
We hold Pawfect Puppy School classes at North Geelong Veterinary Clinic on Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm. They run for 4 weeks, usually starting on the first Wednesday of the month. The Course Cost for 4 weeks is $65.
The Puppy School Trainer is Tina Button who is a certified dog trainer and has been training and breeding dogs for 20 years. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for dog training is the perfect way to create a wonderful relationship with your new puppy. Our resident Veterinarians also provide health information each week. Puppies are developing at a very quick rate, both physically and mentally. We cannot stress how important it is to begin training your puppy as soon as possible! The optimum age for learning is between 8 to 16 weeks of age.
Puppy School will provide you and your puppy with the best foundation to develop a positive relationship with each other. We recommend as much human and “fully vaccinated dog” interaction as possible during this early learning age.
Most behavioral problems we see are due to poor communication between Dog and Owner. The longer they go on for, the longer they take to change. Getting in early and learning as much about dog behavior as possible and training your puppy to perform basic obedience will help prevent many behavioral problems in the future.
Furthermore, your puppy cannot be freely socialized until a week after its final puppy vaccination (see vaccination protocol). However all puppies attending Puppy School are required to be up to date with their vaccinations so that they can socialize with each other before their last vaccination is due.
